The Bonds are a significant materials for Bonded abrasives and coated abrasives as well as suphard materials. The adhesive used to bond the abrasive grits to the backing is an important factor in the performance of coated abrasives products . There are two kind of adhesives in use ; one based on the animal glue and other based on synthetic heat hardenable resins. The adhesives is applied with a minimum of the two bonding application . The first or maker coat adheres the abrasives grain to backing insuring proper anchoring and orientation. After drying or curing, the second or sizer coat is applied. The "sizer" adhesives unites with the "maker" bond to provide final grain anchoring and proper total adhesive level for the finished product.
